This is a Vogue article on Priyanka Chopra Jonas wearing Kaushik Velendra's "super power suit" to present the fashion awards by Alice Newbold. I have chosen this article because it covers the subversion of gender stereostypes in fashion, which is a subject I find interesting and inspiring. I believe that the narrative intention for this piece was to inspire women to change the way they dress to make them feel more powerful and confident in themselves. In an interview Priyanka says that it's "not just a power suit, it's a super power suit" and that the suit is made to "change your posture and to give you absolute confidence". The black and white creates a bold contrast, along with the sharp structure of the piece produces a powerful and provocative style.  I believe they chose a strong, Indian actress, singer and film producer for this article to show an ispirational, hardworking and independant woman who can stand up for herself and represent this in her fashion choices.

This is a Vogue article on "Lola Oladunjoye on how her family history influenced her jewellery line- without her even realising" by Lola Oladunjoye. I have chosen this article because as Lola says she is "storying-telling and recording history through the medium of jewellery" which is very impressive and inspiring. Lola's parents are from Yoruba in Nigeria and now live in Southampton, Britain but remain "firmly rooted in Yoruba culture". This reflected in Lola's work without her even realising it, suggesting the notion that your heritage and upbringing can severly effect your designing, ideas and way of thinking.
